The newest polls came out today and Alabama now ranks number 16 in the country. This sets up a huge game against Auburn Wednesday night, who is now ranked number 12. With just nine games left in the season Alabama has the best record in the SEC and continue to climb the national rankings. There’s still some time and difficult games left to go, but here are the current Vegas odd for Alabama Basketball.

SEC Winner

As of this writing, Alabama has the best odds to win the SEC Conference. Of course that could change very quickly depending on the results of the week, but that’s still a big accomplishment for a team that wasn’t given much of a chance before the season started. And the odds say that this next Alabama Basketball game is a big one. Right now Alabama sits as a +150 favorite. Their next opponent, Auburn, is right behind them at +175. Tennessee is not far behind at +265 followed by South Carolina at +1000. So with Auburn and Alabama facing off, the winner will then have the best odds to win the SEC. So if you are an Auburn fan or just a believer in Auburn, neither of which I will ever understand, this would be a good spot to bet on them.

National Championship

According to Betonline, Alabama currently is tied for the 9th best odds to win the National Championship. Which I find a little surprising since there are SEC teams with better odds than Alabama. So basically Vegas doesn’t trust Alabama in the NCAA Tournament. As of now UConn and Purdue are co-favorites to win the championship at +700. They are followed by Houston (+800), Kansas and Arizona (+1200), North Carolina and Tennessee (+1400), and Auburn (+1800). Kentucky and Alabama are tied with the 9th best odds at +2500. Of course odds can, and will, change a lot over these last couple weeks of the season. But Alabama will play all three of the SEC teams that I just listed before the season is over. Auburn and Kentucky on the road, Tennessee at home. So their odds could change drastically in either direction.

Is Alabama Basketball A Good Bet?

So should you put any of your hard earned money on Alabama? As far as the SEC Championship, I don’t think it is currently a great bet. They will probably need to go 7-2 over their last 9 games to clinch the SEC. Sure, that is basically asking for Alabama to win 1 of those 3 games against their remaining ranked opponents. I think that is more than doable, but basketball is funny sport sometimes and even the best teams drop an unexpected loss sometimes, Do i have faith the Alabama can win out for the rest of the regular season? Absolutely. But at +175 to win the SEC I don’t think that is worth the gamble. There’s just not enough money to be won to take on that risk, if it was me.

As far as the National Championship goes, that’s a tough one. If you are an Alabama fan, I think now is the best time to bet them to win it all. That is because if you want to try to wait for a better price you are basically hoping/expecting Alabama to lose games. And I don’t believe that should ever be an Alabama fans mindset. If you aren’t loyal to Alabama, maybe give it a couple of games before you take them. If they drop a game or two you could likely get them at a better number.
